How far along? 35 Weeks down, and 35 DAYS to go!
Total weight gain: 25 lbs. and only a month to go. Bring on the ice cream! ![]()
How big is baby? Baby is now being compared to a large cantaloupe at 19-22 inches and 6 lbs.
Sleep? Getting very uncomfortable. Just rolling over has become a chore.
Best moment this week? Going to the doctor today and hearing that everything is going really well. My blood pressure is nice and low, my glucose levels are normal and I have less swelling than most pregnant women this far along. Baby is great too. He’s head down (she even pointed out where his little butt is), his heartbeat is steady and strong, he’s measuring right on track for his gestational age and he’ll be full term in 2 weeks! Doc says start thinking about packing the hospital bag and installing the car seat. Holy crap!
Movement? Still thumping away in there!
Food cravings? All of it!
Labor signs? Braxton Hicks contractions are getting intense! Guess my body’s really ramping up for labor. Doc says they’ll continue to get stronger from here on.
What I miss: Smoked salmon.
What I’m looking forward to: A quiet weekend of NO PLANS with my honey!

35 Weeks April 28, 2010
Kid at Heart April 26, 2010
Being pregnant and daydreaming about my little boy’s childhood has sort of taken me back to my own. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to relive my childhood vicariously through him. I finally have an excuse to go see all those silly kid’s movies that I’ve been secretly wanting to watch for years now! I get to pretend Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy are real again. I get to look at everything through a child’s eyes and see the world as a big, mysterious playground to be explored, rather than doing my best to avoid news about global warming and dying polar bears. Best of all, I get to revisit and introduce my child to some of the awesome movies, stories and toys that I grew up with. I can’t wait! I’ve been keeping a mental list of the things I have fond memories of that I want to share with our baby boy as he grows. Here are a few that make me all warm and fuzzy:
TV Shows
The Muppets
The Electric Company – This is by far, the coolest song on a kid’s show EVER!
Warner Bros. Cartoons – Especially Bugs Bunny
Charlie Brown – How cute is Snoopy?
Sesame Street - Old school episodes. None of that Elmo crap!
Books and Characters
Toys
I could go on and on, but I’m sure you get the picture. Let’s just say, I am (and I know Sam is too) so looking forward to seeing the world through a child’s eyes again. We can’t wait to get started!
34 Weeks April 26, 2010
How far along? 34 Weeks.
Total weight gain: About 25 lbs.
How big is baby? Baby is now being compared to a large cantaloupe. Approximately 22 inches and 5.5 lbs.
Sleep? Same as usual.
Best moment this week? Putting away all the baby loot from the baby shower and seeing the nursery coming together.
Movement? Lots! I think he’s running out of room in there!
Food cravings? Sweets. No bueno.
Labor signs? Lots of Braxton Hicks contractions and they’re getting pretty strong!
What I miss: Regular pants!
What I’m looking forward to: Finishing the nursery and washing all his tiny little outfits. heehee!
Baby Shower Weekend April 20, 2010
Wow! What a whirldwind of a weekend!
I had such a great time seeing friends and family for the baby shower. It was really nice to have everyone together in one place. It went by so fast though; I wish I would have had more time to visit with people one on one. Marcia surprised me by arranging to have my childhood best friend (from Des Moines) Kristen fly out for the festivities as well! I couldn’t have asked for a better shower gift!
Speaking of gifts, we SCORED on baby loot. Everyone was so thoughtful with their gifts, and we got most of the things we needed as well. The nursery is filling up fast, and we’ve got some work to do in there! Can’t wait to get it all set up and ready for baby’s arrival.
Here are some photos from the weekend! There were tons more taken, but I haven’t seen them yet.
33 Weeks April 16, 2010
How far along? 33 Weeks
Total weight gain: 22-24 lbs. It varies!
How big is baby? Baby is now being compared to a pineapple. He’s approximately 19-22 inches and 4.9 lbs. That’s a healthy sized pineapple!
Sleep? Eh, getting better aside from a few coughing fits here and there.
Best moment this week? Going to our first childbirth class on Tuesday. Although it made me feel a little panicky at the same time. ![]()
Movement? Oh yeah.
Food cravings? I’m still on the anything banana-nut flavored train. Oh, and fruit!
Labor signs? Getting some pretty strong BH contractions, but nothing alarming.
What I miss: Good, loud rock n’ roll concerts. I went to see Sammy play last weekend and though it was fun, I had to leave once they were done. The other bands were just too loud and I felt weird about exposing the baby (even if it’s muffled in there) to that level of sound.
What I’m looking forward to: My baby shower tomorrow. Can’t wait to see all my family and friends! Wish my Midwest family and friends could be here too!
32 Weeks April 16, 2010
I was so freaking sick last week! Please excuse the hideousness of this photo and the lack of update info. I was just too out of it and yucky to find the time to post.
Maternity Photos April 12, 2010
This past Saturday we met up with a photographer to do a “maternity” photo shoot. We got a fantastic deal on a maternity/newborn package, so we’ll see her again when baby boy arrives in a couple of months! We did some indoor photos at our apartment, then went to the park where we got married to do the rest. She was great, and we had a really nice time with the shoot. She’s on vacation now, so we probably won’t get the CD with all (she took a TON) of the edited photos for a few weeks. Meanwhile, she posted a few “sneak peek” photos on her blog. Here they are! I’ll be sure to share more when we get them back from her.
Sick + Pregnant = NO FUN April 8, 2010
No update yet this week cause I’ve been sick as a dog. We were in Ellensburg over the weekend and I was feeling abnormally tired, but I just chalked it up to being pregnant and baby growing. Little did I know, I was about to feel like I’d been run over. Monday afternoon I started feeling a little achy, and left work a couple hours early to go home and rest. Tuesday morning when I woke up I was full blown sick, complete with sore throat, cough, body aches and headache. Woke up in the middle of the night on Tuesday with a fever, so I ended up staying home yesterday too. Poor Sam, I was in bad shape when I woke up with a fever and I think I kept him up most of the night with my tossing and turning. Lemme tell ya, there is NO WAY POSSIBLE to get comfortable being 8 months pregnant with a fever. UGH! Luckily doc says Tylenol is ok, so I was able to get the fever down with that. It broke a few hours later and I woke up drenched in sweat. Pretty, huh?
Anyway, I’m back at work today and still not feeling very well. I have so much to do though, I’m not sure I would have been able to rest at home thinking about the work piling up on my desk. I’m not sure what I’ve got. The flu? A cold? A sinus infection? All I know is that it better hit the road pretty soon, cause this sucks.
I’ll post my 32 week update as soon as I feel human again.
31 Weeks March 31, 2010
How far along? 31 Weeks. 9 weeks until my due date! We’re getting so excited!
Total weight gain: Somewhere around 22 lbs.
How big is baby? Baby is still being compared to a head of lettuce, but he now measures 19 inches and weighs about 3.9 lbs. No wonder I’m starting to feel so heavy!
Sleep? It’s not too bad. Only getting up a couple of times a night lately.
Best moment this week? Sammy coming home! Oh and last night was pretty cool too. Baby was making some serious alien moves in the belly and Sam finally got to see it. I think it freaked him out a little!
Movement? Thumper is getting less thumpy and more deliberate and rolly. It’s pretty neat, but it feels crazy sometimes.
Food cravings? I like fruit a lot lately. Can’t get enough of it!
Labor signs? Naw. Baby’s still got some cookin’ to do in there.
What I miss: My lung capacity.
What I’m looking forward to: The month of May. I swear, we have plans every weekend (and some week nights!) until then, and it’s wearing me out. I just want to spend some quiet time at home with my hubby before the baby comes!
30 Weeks March 24, 2010
How far along? 30 Weeks. Just 10 weeks until my due date. Wow!
Total weight gain: Somewhere around 22 lbs. Probably more after as much as I ate this past weekend!
How big is baby? Baby is the size of a head of lettuce, at 18 inches and 3.2 lbs. (Disclaimer: All of these measurements are a guesstimate. They come from an app I use on my iPhone, and it’s just the average measurements for a baby at this gestational age.)
Sleep? It’s ok. I only get up to pee a couple times a night now, but I have the worst time falling back to sleep once I do wake up.
Best moment this week? Passing my 3 hour glucose test and knowing for sure I don’t have gestational diabetes. I was worried!
Movement? His nickname is still Thumper. Enough said.
Food cravings? Salad and fruit.
Labor signs? None! I don’t really have Braxton Hicks contractions very often anymore either, which is good.
What I miss: Sammy. We’ve never been apart this long, and it sucks. I’m sure I wouldn’t be such a baby about it if I weren’t pregnant.
What I’m looking forward to: Meeting up with some friends on Friday evening. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen any of them!
